O1 and S1 – Signing, Lighting and Guarding

Posted on written by Sam Barton

The streetworks unit codes have changed, you can see a full list of equivalents here and for full details of the changes click here. When it comes to the unit 2 and unit 10 signing, lighting and guarding courses the only thing that has changed is the course code, the content is the same. Now the courses will be called O1 for the Operative and S1 for the Supervisor.

O1 – Signing, Lighting and Guarding

Formally Unit 2, the O1 course teaches delegates how to physically set up and lay out signing, lighting and guarding systems to direct traffic and pedestrians around work.

The course is ideal for anyone who works on roads or next to roads and pathways and needs to direct people and traffic around them. Tree surgeons, builders, utilities and more.

S1 – Signing, Lighting and Guarding

Formally Unit 10, the S1 course is run alongside the O1 (Unit 2) it teaches delegates to monitor the setting up of signing, lighting and guarding systems. You do not have to complete the O1 course to take the S1, and you can be qualified as both an operative and a supervisor.
